AI companion pricing explained: subscriptions, credits and renewals

The number on the pricing card is often only one layer of the eventual bill.

Short answer

Separate the subscription total from its monthly equivalent, then look for tokens, media credits, introductory discounts and renewal language. Screenshot the checkout before paying.

A continuous illuminated thread passes through physical objects on a dark table.

Step 01

Equivalent is not total

“$6 per month” can mean $71.96 charged today for a year. Both numbers can be true; only one tells you the immediate charge.

Step 02

Media may have a second meter

Images, video, voice and regenerations may consume credits even when chat is described as unlimited. Look for the unit cost and refill price.

Step 03

Promotions need an exit plan

A first-subscription discount says nothing about renewal. Note the next date, renewal total and cancellation route before the trial glow takes over.

The practical next move

A guide becomes useful when it changes a decision. Choose one small test, record what happened, and compare the result with the product’s promise. Do not reward a vague answer with a longer subscription.

Keep your standards

The app is auditioning for your time, not the other way around.
